Partindo da realização de um estudo longitudinal sobre a presença da fotografia no discurso promocional turístico durante esse período, será feita uma análise crítica sobre o seu contributo no processo de construção do imaginário turístico da costa portuguesa. Este levantamento será complementado com uma investigação sobre o impacto das dinâmicas de ocupação e uso das atividades turísticas em quatro regiões de Portugal – a linha costeira do Distrito do Porto, Cascais, Faro e São Miguel – no plano da atualidade. Esta investigação propõe fazer uma contextualização da evolução do setor do turismo no plano socioeconómico e destacar o seu papel enquanto agente transformador das paisagens físicas e sociológicas” (in Instituto de Sociologia da Universidade do Porto). Na literatura clássica, a ode apresenta-se como um poema de estilo elevado destinado ao canto. Com inspiração nas Odes escritas por Fernando Pessoa e no País Possível que Ruy Belo escreveu durante o seu exílio, e partindo da atracção pessoal pela costa portuguesa e do fascínio pela influência das forças de “destruição criativa” do neoliberalismo discutidas pelo geógrafo David Harvey, Ode aborda uma das indústrias mais populares e transformadoras das paisagens sócio-económicas da actualidade: o turismo. Passadas estão as noções românticas da viagem como uma espécie de grand tour de auto-descoberta e desenvolvimento pessoal, o lirismo da paisagem natural e construída esvaneceu-se com o surgimento dos chamado “territórios lúdicos”, espaços definidos pelo sociólogo Luís Baptista como lugares construídos especificamente para o entretenimento e para o consumo programado. Um pouco por toda a costa portuguesa conseguimos testemunhar como os espaços destinados às práticas de lazer e de turismo de massas são pensados como um produto e os turistas como consumidores. Estas dinâmicas de comodificação do espaço assumem uma escala nacional e acompanham as tendências globais de planeamento urbano e de mercantilização do imobiliário e mobiliário urbano e das suas comunidades autóctones, cuja identidade se vai gradualmente transformando e adaptando para acomodar os desejos do mercado de consumo de massas. Nesta lógica, a normatividade da oferta assenta na previsibilidade das experiências proporcionadas ao turista nos lugares destinados ao consumo, os quais, pelas suas características formais e de uso, se tornam em “não-lugares”, conforme definidos pelo antropólogo Marc Augé. Desenvolvido ao longo da costa portuguesa, este ensaio observa o impacto nas paisagens naturais, construídas e sociais dos processos de comodificação territorial no âmbito das práticas turísticas sua posterior mediatização numa série de postais que enquadrem a sua monumentalidade e contemporaneidade. A solução passou por repetir de forma propositada e literal todo o imaginário por inúmeras vezes retratado nos media e no imaginário turístico, e, a partir dessa mesma repetição, chegar a uma nova linguagem que, ainda diferente da do comum postal, se torna facilmente inteligível. Em termos cromáticos, as escolhas de cores do postal foram feitas de acordo com os tons predominantes nos locais retratados, bem como os tons dominantes das fotografias captadas. Apesar de todos estes pormenores (que poderiam indiciar um trabalho que se remetesse a um passado pouco longínquo) o que se pretende é retratar Portugal na sua contemporaneidade, considerando que aquilo que este país tem para oferecer nos termos da sua multiplicidade mundana um trunfo mais do que suficiente para garantir a sua mediatização, anulando o preconceito formado em torno de uma única costa oeste, a norte-americana, a West Coast, tão glamourosa e tão sobejamente popularizada pelos media que o próprio termo “West Coast” anula toda a restante geografia mundial em prol dessa exclusividade conceptual. Este projecto surge no contexto do Mestrado em Design da Imagem da Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto, em colaboração com o&nbsp;Happy Jack Studio. <img width="441" height="314"
